Date of commencement: 27th November 2012
The Traffic Section are glad to announce that the current on-going works within Sandyford Business District are nearing completion.
This project will provide improved pedestrian and cycle facilities as well as upgraded signalised junctions and the re-introduction of two-way traffic along the full length of Blackthorn Road,
We apologise for the slow progress, which was due to a number of problems that arose during the course of construction.
Works at the junctions are nearly finished. This will be followed by the complete re-surfacing of Blackthorn Road, from Burton Hall Road to the junction with Blackthorn Avenue and on Blackthorn Avenue from Stillorgan Luas Stop to the junction with Blackthorn Road.
New road markings and on-road cycle lanes need to be installed.
The Traffic Section will then be in a position to open Blackthorn Road to two-way traffic and cyclists.
The proposed date for the introduction of two-way traffic on Blackthorn Road is Monday, 26th November 2012 at 10.30am.
This date may be brought forward in the event of favourable weather over the next two weeks, which could speed up construction progress.
Temporary traffic signage will be erected on approach roads to Blackthorn Road, informing motorists of the revised road layout.
The Traffic Section will issue updates if there is any change to the above date or information.
It should be noted that the Traffic Section will continue to monitor traffic flows through the area following the completion of the project and modifications, if required, will be made to optimise the phasing of the new traffic signals.
